"Of course.  I like a woman that I can talk to about anything and everything.  Besides, in the ruins of an ancient city, I don't get much company." Fernando answered.  He tried pushing against the rubble that blocked the entrance.

"Awww you poor dear..." Raf hugged him. His texture was unique. "You & I can be friends..." She began helping him pushing the rubble and the earth began shaking again as a hole opened up. Taking her in. "Fernando..." she cried as the hole closed in and she landed in a place that she thought looked familiar. She gasped. "The underworld..." she whispered and she was grabbed by some demons to see the Lord of the Underworld himself.

"Oh no you don't.  Your master isn't that lucky." Fernando spat.  He started burrowing to get deeper underground.  He started to wonder if this strangeness would go away if they reenacted the famous story of the feathered serpent and the Earth Goddess.
As soon as he found the Underworld, he began to wonder if this was what the real Quetzalcoatl had seen when he came there to retrieve bones to bring to the Creator.  When he noticed how the demons shrank away at his approach, he was suddenly thankful the curse on him had given him that body.  But he shoved it away; he needed to find the girl.

Raf looked at the Underworld Lord. "W...What do you want from me..." she asked shakily. The Underworld Lord smiled. "I want you to be my wife.... diosa de la Tierra...." It was like a nightmare but she remembered being called Tierra. "No..." she said "Then suffer..." He snapped his fingers and she began to warm up. "Fernando...." she cried out not knowing he was in the Underworld.

As if on cue, Fernando burst into the room.  He stood high over the ground, his great wings spread wide.  Quickly, he coiled his body protectively around her.
"How dare you abduct her!  I told you, this one belongs to me!" Fernando's voice boomed over everything.
"You will not win this time, Quetzalcoatl.  This time, I shall be victorious." the Lord of the Underworld hissed determinedly.
'He really thinks I'm Quetzalcoatl.  It looks like my theory might be right.' Fernando thought.  When she tried to speak, he gave her a sign to keep quiet.  He quickly placed her on his back and began to fly back the way he had come.

When they returned her eyes sparkled with gratitude and she hugged him. "Oh Fernando...I was so scared but you came and ohh come here..." and without warning she kissed him and it felt so right so she wrapped her arms around his snake body.

Fernando was, to say the least, astounded.  He didn't think anyone would be daring enough to try that while he was like this.  But he still needed to tell her what he believed.
"Senorita, I think I have an idea on how we can seal him away again.  But first, I would like to know your name." he told her, placing a wing over her back.

Raf smiled. "I think I'll be willing to hear and my name is Rafina or Raf. Raf Earthington." She bowed. Her emerald green eyes sparkled.

Fernando felt a smile tug at his mouth.  Her name sounded pretty, and a little ironic.  It made him more certain that his plan could work.
"The Lord of the Underworld believes you are the real Earth Goddess, si?  And thanks to this cursed form, he believes I am the real Quetzalcoatl.  Perhaps we need to play out the story of how he flew her to the sun.  Tomorrow will be the perfect time to do it because the star Venus will be visible tomorrow morning.  Venus is Quetzalcoatl's ally, no evil deeds are permitted in the sight of Venus.  What do you think?" he asked her.

Raf looked at him "So basically I have to be the Earth Goddess and you fly me to the Sun?" she thought about it and smiled. Her eyes shimmered "I am in...but what about my clothes?" she lifted the shredded cloths "Dont worry Fernando I will find a way to help you I promise cause youre so kind and loving..." she covered her mouth when she said "loving" and blushed

"Loving?  I was just thinking about your safety at the time.  But, gracias for the compliment, Rafina." Fernando stuttered, his cheeks turning a red color.  He had thought of himself as generous, but he didn't think it meant he was loving.  She had given him something to think about.
"Um, I think there are some old dresses or robes made to emulate the Earth Goddess.  You could wear those if you want." he offered.

Raf smiled as she saw the outfits. She loved one than the others. She put it on and the wings. There was a glow as the outfit fused itself on her and she flew out. "Well...how you think?"

"Muy bonito, Rafina.  Not the one I thought you would pick, but you look very lovely.  And maybe this ride will be more enjoyable than the first one." Fernando answered.

Raf blushed. "I liked this one cause its like your violet eyes and they are a beautiful sight..." she covered her mouth again. "Whats the matter with me...I am being flirtatious and oh my stars his smile and eyes...Snap out of it Raf..." She nervously chuckled. "You think? Wanna do a test run?"

Fernando lowered his head.  This way, she could climb onto the spot just before his wings.  She would be safest there.
"I was thinking I could take you for a flight through the mountains.  You can see the countryside from a bird's eye view.  Does that appeal to you?" he asked.

"That would be wonderful..." Raf smiled as she climbed his back and off they went. Her smile widen "Woohoo....." she held out her arms "This is beautiful Fernando..." she kissed him on top of his head "Thank you..."

"I'm...happy that you like it.  Sometimes, I just fly around here because it's relaxing." Fernando told her.  He found himself being very open with Rafina.  Maybe it was his loneliness getting to him, but he enjoyed her company very much.

Raf looked at her wings and they started to flutter. "I understand thats why I like to read and study..." She smiled as she looked at Fernando. "I can fly...race you.." she giggled as she zoomed passed him. "Try to catch me..."

"Hey!  I'll get you!" Fernando called playfully.  He was easily able to catch up to her.  He let them race for a few minutes.  Then, with a cheerful laugh, he twisted himself around her and held her securely in his coils.
"Told you I'd get you." he said, with a chuckle.

Raf smiled "Indeed you did Quetzalcoatl...ohhh I mean Fernando...Ohhh my head..." Raf held her head down. She was having flashbacks and they revolved her and Fernand. Her eyes were closed and her body was stiff like she was in a trance.

"Rafina?  Are you feeling alright?" Fernando asked, concerned for her.  He didn't like the sudden turn she had taken.

Raf smiled as she lifted her head and her eyes sparkled. "Oh Quetzalcoatl...how I missed you..." Raf's hands caressed his cheeks. "Dont you remember me?"

At first, Fernando didn't understand what was going on.  Was it possible that the Goddess had possessed her?  Suddenly, he felt something else take over his mind; something powerful and wise.
"My dear friend.  How long has it been?" he asked in an older deeper voice.

Raf's eyes sparkled "Oh Quetzalcoatl..." Raf or actually Mavis fluttered her wings out of Fernando's coils. She embraced him and kissed his cheeks. "Its been years...." she giggled

"Join me on the ground.  I have a few things to discuss with you.  And they concern our hosts." he explained to her.  He turned toward the ground and landed carefully with her not too far behind him.
