Tutoring Session 2 (Anyone)

Alidia smiled "Awesome." Alidia couldn't wait to start cooking and do things like a human. "Okay, thats a pot, peeler and a spatua."

Belle smiled. "You got two and a half of them right." She pointed to the lpper. "Professionals call this a flipper, which has been commonly dubbed 'spatcula.' But considering the fact you're not going into a five star restaurant, I'll give spactula to you. Good." She pointed to the saucepan and slotted spoon. "And these two?"

Alidia looked at them. She grabbed the pan "This is a pan, I think. And this is a spoon!? " she said," am I right?"

"Eh...kind of." Belle took the saucepan. "A saucepan is much more shallow than a pot," she held the two items out for comparrison. "Saucepans also have handles, unlike this soup pot. And this spoon," she showed Alidia the small vents poked in the back, "is slotted You use this when stirring or making something with big chunks."

Alidia flicked her finger to make a feather and paper where writing everything down cause she needed to make sure she'd remember. "Ok, Belle. What's next?"

"Okay. So some basics are down. Some of this is based mostly on logic," Belle explained. "Perhaps we can go over cooking terms. I'll do the more common ones. Okay, a difference between browning and sauteeing." She opened the book to that section. "Sauteeing is just a real quick light fry in some fat like butter or oil. Browning is when you,well, brown the food - it takes longer than sauteeing."

"Ok, so saucing is like making the food not to stick and browning is like making food like meat not raw?" Alidia made the notes.

"Saute, Alidia," Belle corrected politely. "sauteing is what you're referring to. Saucing is, well, like it says. Making a sauce to add moisture or depth to a dish."

Alidia simply nodded as she wrote that in her notes.

"In fact," Belle handed Alidia a copy of the book. "Most of the stuff is written in here. Unless me lecturing and you taking notes is easier."

Alidia took the book amd smiled. "Thanks Belle." Alidia flicked for a pen, "Oh please continue. You make more enjoyable and we are best friends."

Belle smiled. This side of Alidia was something she never saw before. Alidia just called her her 'best friend'. Nereids really had no notion of the term; often the term 'favorite' was what one called close friends. For example, Belle saw Jasmine as her 'favorite'. But you could have more than one 'favorite'; the ocean laws didn't apply on land. "Okay. What would you like to look at next?"

((Thanks. I am making Alidia more kinder cause she feels guility bout the hunters and she wants to show her softer side but if the hunters come back....all Hell is going to break loose))

Alidia looked through the book and found a recipe for friendship cake. She looked up at Belle with a brighten eyes and a matching smile as she put the book down and pointed at the picture. "Could we try making that?"

"I guess trying out a recipe some time is an experience," Belle smiled. "We can't do it right now because, well," she sheepishly looked around. A library covered in cake batter would be coming out of both their pockets. "But I can certainly schedule a time to try that. It looks delicious."

Alidia giggled at the though of it and then she got an idea. "I could make the Library messproof. That is if you want me to."

"Alidia, thats kind of you," Belle said, "but I'm not sure Odette would like us cooking even if the library was messproof."

Alidia smiled "Good point."

"So.." Belle pulled out her planner. "I can schedule a friendship cake sometime next week. Fair enough?"

Alidia nodded "Okay."

"Calmwater," Belle smiled. Realizing she was using Nereid slang, she giggled nervously. "I mean 'cool'."

Alidia smiled. "Wickedness."

Belle laughed. "Thank Zeus I'm not the only one that has unusual slang. I guess even though I've been on land for three hundred years, my roots still follow me."

"I dont see anything wrong with that Belle, like I used to say words back my time period like Flambustious. But times are changing. And our words are too but I still like reading in the Ye Olde English, like Shakespeare." Alidia smiled as she made herself look like a fairy from Midsummer's Night Dream .

"Before I met other creatues, my only friends were old authors," Belle pointed out. It was true; books were her replacement for company. "That inclued old Willia..." Her sentence trailed off as Alidia changed her form. "Have you ever considered using your magic for stagecraft? You see, your father's class is performing A Midsummer Night's Dream and we could use stagehands."

Alidia blinked her eyes. She never thought of that. She could....maybe do just that. And how did Belle know about her and her dad. She decided to make Belle happy, so with a magic spell Alidia made Belle into a fairy also.
