Seeing that she wasn't phased by the request, Maxwell knew he'd have to go through with his offer now.  So, he leaned closer to Aqua.  He placed a light kiss on her cheek, which he found to be rather smooth.
"Most people give a kiss on the cheek, or on top of the head.  But people who are in love will kiss on the lips." Maxwell informed her.

Aqua smiled and blushed as she got her first human Kiss. She giggled. "That was fipperastic...now has I promise I will sing and this will be our song if we are in danger or just wanting to be in each other's company..."

Maxwell listened to her sing.  Aqua's voice had a soothing quality to it.  He felt very relaxed listening to it.
"You sing beautifully." he told her.

Aqua smiled. "Thanks...but I have to go...same time tomorrow?'

Years later
Aqua was so excited. She wasnt the little mermaid anymore. She was now 17 human years old. She colored her hair with sea-dye and it was black and made her best friend Maxwell a present. A music box with their song. It was the 10 year mark of their friendship and of her saving him. She giggled as she remembered placing her pearl on his chest and saving his life. "Today is going to be a swimmingly good day..." She wrapped the present in Sea-Roses and waited for him in their secret spot. She wondered what 10 years did to him. Her heart fluttered. She blushed as she also remembered their first kiss. "Come on Maxwell where are you?" she asked to herself as she sat on a rock.

Ten years had passed, and Maxwell Benet had begun the process of becoming a pirate.  But he still held the tradition of coming to the place he and Aqua came to since childhood to meet.  When he saw a figure there, he knew he was in luck.
"Hello Aqua.  Has it really been ten years?" he asked.  Then he noticed that she had dyed her hair. "You colored your hair?  It looks lovely that way."

Aqua smiled as she saw Maxwell. "Hey. Yea 10 years to the day. I made something for you. It opens with the necklace I got you....and yea I dyed my hair. To make it more human...and you..." she gasped joyfully "you're growing a 5 o'clock shadow...it suits you..." she giggled as she splashed him like when they were kids. "wanna go for a swim for old times sake? And then I'll give you my present."

"Sure.  Why not." Maxwell answered, setting his coat shirt and boots on the sand.  All the time spent with Aqua had helped him to become a better swimmer.  And there was something special in his coat that he wanted to give her later on.  So, he would enjoy some time with his childhood friend before showing it to her.

Aqua smiled as Maxwell joined her. It was like they were kids all over again. She touched the pearl and it glowed. "Come underwater with me, Maxwell. I made it that you can breath like me." she went under and waited for him. She giggled. "There's something coral under here...it's an empty pirate ship."

Suddenly intrigued, Maxwell followed her under.  He was surprised, but pleased, to find that she had been able to do this.  Not wanting to waste time, he swan beside her to the sunken ship she'd found.
As he followed her, he cast a glance over at his childhood friend.  Aqua had grown quite beautiful over the years.  The young man found that he liked watching the way she moved.

Aqua smiled as her and Maxwell were in the ship. She gasped as she saw a chest. "I thought this ship was empty..." she opened it and found clothes and jewelry. She found a crown. She smiled as she placed it on Maxwell's head and put on the dress and it covered her tail. "Your highness..." she giggled as she bowed. "What is your wish king Maxwell? Wish it and it should be tried to be made true..." Aqua looked at him and her heart began skipping beats again.

Maxwell couldn't help but chuckle.  And he knew how he wanted to play along.  It was a good opportunity.
"The only thing I wish is to see my dear friend accept a gift to her.  I put a lot of thought into it and I hope she likes my present." he answered Aqua.

Aqua smiled. "So you wished it so it should be granted...I know if you made it Maxwell I'm surely to love it..." she giggled as they went back on the surface. She held out her present. "Mine first and then yours..." she prayed to the musical and water gods he'd love it. The musicbox of their song and a golden figures dancing. It was them. Him and her dancing like if she was like him.

"Oh, Aqua.  It's...it's wonderful.  I don't know what else to say, except for thank you." Maxwell said breathlessly as he examined the music box.

Aqua squealed. "I'm so happy you like it...it opens with the pearl necklace..." her heart began pounding more. She giggled. "And it smells like searoses..."

"I keep the pearl necklace you gave me around my neck at all times.  I don't want anyone to take it so I keep it close." Maxwell told her. "I'll treasure this, always."

Aqua blushed. "Awww Maxwell...you're so kind and sweet." she bit her lips as she went on the beach holding his hands. "I'm so glad I saved you 10 years ago...I won't change anything about that day. Now what's my present?" she giggled with delight as she covered her eyes.

"It's in my coat, on the beach.  I can go up and get it if you want me to.  It won't take long for me to do that." Maxwell explained.

Aqua smiled as she waited for Maxwell. Unknown to them that they were being watched. The dreaded Shawn Nicholas aka Black Shadow was watching them. "Arg whats the lad doing with a mermaid...they're nothing but trouble but cost a lot of booty...we'll attack when she's alone..."

Maxwell quickly retrieved his gift to Aqua.  When he opened his hands, he revealed a gold necklace with a light blue gemstone hanging from it.  The chain itself wasn't very long, but that it wouldn't slip off while she was underwater.
"I don't know if you've ever really looked at gems before, but I thought I would give you something precious from my world since you gave me something precious from yours.  This kind of gem is called an Aquamarine.  I saw it a few years ago, and immediately thought of you.  Since that time, I've been paying a jeweler to make a necklace for you." he told her.

Aqua was speechless has she touched the gem. "Maxwell...it's so beautiful..." she kissed his cheek. When she did that she felt more of the blush. "Maxwell...I'll stay by your side forever mermaids promise...cause we are friends and..." she paused as she had a feeling that her human friend was hiding something. "Maxwell what's the matter? I have a feeling that there's something you're not telling me..."

"Well, Aqua, I've been making steps to be a seafaring pirate.  I've wanted to sail the sea for a long time.  But now, I'm not sure that I want to leave, because...I've developed feelings for you." Maxwell confessed, holding her hands.

Aqua gasped. "You....you do? Have feelings for me...and you wanna be a pirate..." she inhaled and exhaled. "I feel the same way...but go...be a pirate...I'll be right by your side...and there's something I wanna do before I miss my chance..." without skipping a beat she kissed his lips. "Maxwell..." she whispered "I love you...be a pirate..."

"Are you sure?" Maxwell asked.  He saw pure honesty and a wanting for him to be happy in her eyes.  He couldn't help but smile at her.
"I love you, Aqua." he said without hesitation.

Aqua smiled "I love you too Maxwell...I want you happy...follow your dreams okay? And the pirate suit will look kinda cute on you..." she giggled as she went in the water. "now captain Maxwell...I must see you set off...when is your ship ready to set sail?" she put on the aquamarine necklace on around her neck.

"It will be sailing tomorrow.  We've been in port for three days now.  I've been busy taking care of some business and I wanted to see you.  Are you sure you want to come with me?  You are welcome to, but I want to be sure it's what you want." Maxwell answered.
