Relaxing Ride (Tag: Alidia)

Monica shook her head. "No... I came on my own terms when I heard your howl..." She walked around the cage to see the werwolf closer. "But my uncle..." she held her head down. "He taught me so much and I promise I'll be your friend and I won't harm you..." She held her head up and placed her hand into his paw. "I vow that I'll do all I can to protect you my werwolf friend..." she smiled. 

"There are a lot of Worgen here.  And few of us survive that potion we have to swallow to retain our sanity.  You're the Archdruid's niece.  Was his brother your father?" Barnabas asked.

Monica nodded. "Now you know who I am... Who are you my friend..." 

"Barnabas Crowley, son of Darius Crowley.  He was the King's best friend.  Our father's have something in common." Barnabas answered.

Monica gasped. "They both work for the king..." She held his paw tightly. 

"No.  They were both considered traitors at one point.  But something happened that caused those close to him to forget their past misdeeds." Barnabas explained.

"I agree with you Barnabas... We need to do something..." Monica smiled as she tried opened the cage but it zapped her causing her to fly back. 

"The man who's been trying to help us is a mage.  He protected each cage with magic so we couldn't escape before...the potion is administered.  After that we are allowed to roam freely.  That's what happened to the ones before me, though not many of them made it." Barnabas explained.

Monica shook her head as she got to her feet. "I am okay..." She smiled as she smoothed out her cloak and dress. "But I will try breaking the spell..." she closed her eyes and began chanting. "Free Barnabas..." 

"That man who makes the concoction, he wants to help us.  And I heard the Night Elves turned away from Arcane magic.  You may not be able to remove it." Barnabas warned her.

Monica chanted more as her eyes began to glow. "Free Barnabas... Free him from this cage... He doesn't deserve being in there..." 

"They're going to let me out.  Don't you get that?  When it's morning, they'll put me in the stocks and force that stuff down my throat, then I can be free of this cage." Barnabas insisted.  He didn't want to try and leave his cage without the supervision of those not afflicted with the Worgen curse.  If he did, he'd be hunted down and put out of his misery like a lame horse, which is what Godfrey would want.

"But Barnabas... I wanna help you... I can't see you hurt..." She whimpered and gasped when she hurt the Lord. "Oh no..." she run behind the bush. 

"I understand that you want to help.  But I'll be a danger to you if I just escape from this cage.  The beast within is like a desire you can't sate; that's why I need to behave for them.  After my sanity is secured, I'll be safe and free to help in whatever way I can." Barnabas told her, his eyes gentle and assuring.  But when the lord returned he fell silent.  The caged Worgen always played the role of a dumb animal in front of Godfrey because it made the man leave him alone a lot faster.

Monica didn't care. She had to help her friend. She slowly reached for her arrow and bow as she began to aim. She gathered all her courage and held it in front of the Lord. "Let Barnabas go!! Now!!" 

"If I release him from this cage with supervision, he'll run wild.  It's hard enough catching these mongrels the first time.  Morning is almost upon us.  Then, we'll see what can be done." Godfrey replied, refusing to be intimidated.
"Please, just let them work." Barnabas whispered, hoping she would hear but Godfrey wouldn't.

Monica heard Barnabas's whisper and looked at the sunrise. She went to Barnabas's side holding his paw dropping her arrow and bow. 

"If you're so determined to watch him, you may.  I have enough to deal with as it is." Godfrey said before he backed off.  The apothecary and King Genn Greymane were coming.

Monica never left Barnabas's side. "I'll never leave you my friend..." she whispered as she placed his paw on her cheek. Then she felt her heart skip beats but she shook it off.

Barnabas gazed at her, comforted by her presence.  He found himself feeling protective of her, like he was with his sister, Lorna.  He didn't know why yet.
The Worgen was taken from the cage and placed in the stocks.  Next, the apothecary administered the potion to Barnabas.  Instantly, a sense of clarity washed over him.  They released him, knowing he was safe to allow around others now.

Monica kept her word and stayed at Barnabas's side. Even with the higher authority with her. "Barnabas? Are you okay?" She asked holding on to his paw. "And do you remember me?" She hoped he did. Cause she felt something for this wonderful creature whom they said were not human-like. She was defying the odds. She saw him as a living thing not an object.

"Yes.  I remember you.  I remember all of it." Barnabas answered.  King Greymane was smiling as he opened the stocks.

Monica smiled. "You remember!!" She giggled as she hugged Barnabas. 

"Yes.  I do." Barnabas said.  He held her hand close.  As he looked past her, he noticed Godfrey walking away.
"Now where's he going?" he wondered out loud.

"Then lets follow him..." She whispered. She held his hand as they follow. "I'll by your side..." she smiled as she reassured Barnabas as she took her bow and arrow.
