On Winter's Tide Empty On Winter's Tide

Wind blew in harsh blasts, indicating signs of a winter storm coming to normally warm Italy. Belle, being from around the Mediterranean Sea, shivered as the cold was alien to her. But she was not in the Mediterranean anymore; instead, she was walking through Mystical Park, which lived up to its name, even in the winter. The frost from the trees and ground made everything look fragile, like if Belle touched a blade of grass it would shatter. The few empty trees were embracing the slate sky with dark twigs pointing upright. Belle admired dry nature more than firesh flowers; it reminded her of the kelp gardens back home.
Belle skirted a corner, her eyes falling upon a half-covered pond. Whatever patches of water remained looked like dark potholes. The sheet of ice looked like it was waiting to cover the holes, probably tapping its foot. Black freshwater was boring compared to winter in the open sea. Belle sat the edge, her hand over the ice. Rather than black water, the sea turned green and frothy, almost impatient, when winter came. Unfortunately for Belle, ice never appeared. She envied the folks in the north, who rode icebergs during the winter or took rides on them to other waters. Suddenly, mischief glimmered in Belle's spirit. No one was watching, and the ice was easy to melt...for her.
Breathing, Belle proceeded to claw her hands over the ice. When her fingers flexed, cracks appeared before fragments, an then chunks, floated away. Belle guided a few chunks together and froze them into merging. The water magic made a surface that she could stand on. Once on her makeshift board, Belle turned her back on the water, breathed, and swung her arms behind her. The movement caused the pond to swell until the curve of a wave came. It wasn't a tall wave, but it had to do. The momentum pushed Belle forward, often sliding on the wave, until it died down and she ended up on the other shore. Brushing herself off, Belle breathed again, freezing the pond over completely. It wasn't the same as riding an iceberg in the ocean, but that had to do.
